DESCRIPTION:Using a single piece of paper\, we will create a zine\, or small self-published book\, filled with your personal\, already experienced\, knowledge. Bring your favorite special-interest info or something you’ve been studying or writing about\, and a few collage items (small stickers\, small images and text or papers” that represent this topic! I will have general art supplies\, but may not have everyone’s area of interest or languages represented in my collage options. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCo-Creative Sessions is a free and accessible online series geared to enrich\, educate and connect creatives through a series of workshops and training sessions. New Bedford is the home of artists\, creatives\, change makers\, designers\, entrepreneurs and community enthusiasts and the Co-Creative Session embraces the pulse that makes New Bedford so unique while expanding our knowledge and connections! \n\n\n\nWith great thanks\, this program is funded and supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, New Bedford Economic Development Council and NB Creative. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf registration form doesn’t load register here \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAneshia Savino (she/ze/they) is an independent apothecary\, dancer\, and scribe\, and a graduate of the University of New Mexico-Albuquerque. Ze has performed in clubs\, art galleries\, ritual theater\, fundraising\, and art stages including Burning Man and AS220. Aneshia has previously worked at farms\, co-ops\, and organizations working for equitable access to natural and cultural resources. Their recent zines include “It lurks beneath…”\, “Debitge: poems for the Core”\, and “Lesser-known Moral Panics of Southern New England”. They love choreographing rituals/ceremonies and producing events with their family\, friends\, and communities\, including Queer Arts Council’s Pride Block Party\, New Moon Dance Party\, and In Place-Mapping New Bedford’s Hidden Italian and Jewish Neighborhoods.

SUMMARY:Linocut Print Making
DESCRIPTION:with Taylor Hickey \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA guide through designing\, carving\, and printing your own black and white linocut print. Up to 15 participants for a 3-hour workshop. I may be able to fit it into 2 hours if needed\, especially if there are fewer participants. Weekends or evenings at the Co-Creative Center. I have done a handful of these workshops at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park\, UMass Dartmouth\, and the New Bedford Art Museum with great results. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCo-Creative Sessions is a free and accessible online series geared to enrich\, educate and connect creatives through a series of workshops and training sessions. Born in Southeast Texas\, Taylor earned her BA in Drawing and Printmaking from McNeese State University in Louisiana. She went on to earn an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2021\, developing a body of work which pays homage to the human endeavor to understand the universe at large. \n\n\n\nPost-graduation\, she has held various positions as a gallerist and arts educator. She served as the Assistant Curator at the New Bedford Art Museum from 2022-2023\, taught Printmaking courses at the MFA Boston\, and continues to teach Drawing Foundations for RISD’s Pre-College program in the summer. In 2023 she was an Artist in Residence at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park\, and in April 2024 she curated an exhibition\, “Look\, But Look With Love” at the NARS Foundation in Brooklyn\, NY. Additionally\, her artwork has been included in various exhibitions and publications across the United States.

DESCRIPTION:photos & prints by Andrea Cacase \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSoft animal is Andrea Cacase’s first solo exhibition featuring photographs and prints from the past few years. Her photography consists of landscapes\, portraits\, and still lifes\, all taken on Polaroid film. The prints are a mix of photo emulsion transfers\, monotypes\, and etchings. \n\n\n\nPoetry is a big source of inspiration for Cacase’s work. The title of the show comes from the Mary Oliver poem Wild Geese. In the poem\, Oliver compares the struggle of the human experience to the natural world’s ability to move along effortlessly. She advices the reader to “let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.” The poem celebrates nature’s grandeur and its ability to remind people\, that even at their lowest moments\, they’re part of something vast and meaningful. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe show also includes a collaborative project with friend and sculptor Tim Bearse entitled Mood of the Mason. Together they created a series of unique site-specific frames to display her images. The piece marries the soft etherial world of Cacase’s photography\, with the rough hard-edged surfaces of woodworking and masonry. It’s a nod to the historic buildings in downtown New Bedford and the ways in which they’ve been restored and repurposed for our contemporary pursuits. \n\n\n\nThe frames were created using various digital fabrication techniques. Twenty locations were selected on the 40 foot rock wall located within the Co-Creative Center. Each location on the wall was then scanned and turned into a 3D model. The 3D models were then used to carve out the rock formations into the backs of 20 wooden blocks using a CNC router. Each frame nestles perfectly into the wall while displaying the various groupings of images. The piece requires the viewer to get up close and personal with each photo and frame to take in their unique shapes and forms.
