DESCRIPTION:The 5 Pillars of Hip Hop Presentation by 3rd Eye Youth Empowerment and Peter Walker  \n\n\n\nOnline and in person \n\n\n\nThe pillars are a foundation for community engagement DJ/Breaking/Graffiti/MC/Knowledge \n\n\n\nPillar #1 – Dj’ing – history of the DJ and then an example of a scratch and blend and a call to the audience to engage with the performance. \n\n\n\nPillar #2 – Breaking – history of Break dancing and a live example to the audience capped off with a small hand “tutting” tutorial. \n\n\n\nPillar #3 – Graffiti – breaking down the importance of this pillar while expressing the evolution of Graffiti into the canvas of visual arts overall. \n\n\n\nPillar #4 – MC’ing – the significance of this role in the pillars being the community energy source when the pillars are activated. Capped off with a cool call! \n\n\n\nPillar #5 – Knowledge – breaking down the importance of this pillar and how combined with the other pillars are a roadmap to utility\, mental and physical health\, and a way to put action behind our energy towards a better\, safer\, community for everyone. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCo-Creative Sessions is a free and accessible online series geared to enrich\, educate and connect creatives through a series of workshops and training sessions. SUMMARY:Beasts\, Trees\, Wind\, and Stone by Rad Future
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception\, Thursday\, June 9\, 6PM – 9PM \n\n\n\nHaving a primary job working a desk can be draining\, so\, I began searching for ways to escape the screens. I remembered as a kid taking family trips and the ones that stood out the most were my memories of New Hampshire. I loved being amongst the trees. It filled me with a sense of peace and awe. \n\n\n\nI downloaded an app which displayed a variety of hiking trails all around me and began to explore. Photography soon became a hobby of mine along these little adventures amongst Earth’s beauty. The mushrooms\, little leaves capturing the light just right\, and all other magical wonders that Mother Earth displayed as her works of art became my addiction. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlong some of these adventures I’d come across abandoned locations covered in greenery\, layers of decay\, and graffiti. The combination of these layers\, textures and greenery inspired the creation of Beasts\, Trees\, Wind and Stone. \n\n\n\nMy name is Chelsea Arruda and I created Rad Future as a reminder to live in the moment. The future we crave is happening right here\, right now\, in this very moment. \n\n\n\nYour Rad Future begins right now.

SUMMARY:Co-Creative Sessions: Drawing with the Figure
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, students will learn the tools of fundamental observation.  \n\n\n\nWe will take a look at how complex forms can be broken down into basic shapes\, learning about measuring tools\, and learn about the world of light and shadow properties to model those forms. We will take a look at other artists works to see how they explored shape\, tone and mark making to capture aspects of their world.  \n\n\n\nStudents will walk away with a small set of completed studies of still life and nature. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCo-Creative Sessions is a free and accessible online series geared to enrich\, educate and connect creatives through a series of workshops and training sessions. New Bedford is the home of artists\, creatives\, change makers\, designers\, entrepreneurs and community enthusiasts and the Co-Creative Session embraces the pulse that makes New Bedford so unique while expanding our knowledge and connections! \n\n\n\nFunded by MassDevelopment/TDI and the Barr Foundation\, this program is one component of a broader “TDI Creative Cities” initiative to boost arts-based economic development. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKat Knutsen is an artist based in New Bedford with a background in drawing\, painting and animation. Her work has always teetered between illustration and fine art. She incorporates metaphors and symbolisms into her work that reflect both micro and macrocosm in her life observations.  \n\n\n\nKat moved to New Bedford MA in 2012 to study her MFA in painting and decided to stay in New Bedford when she saw the opportunity to expand her research through teaching at Bristol Community College.
