SUMMARY:Playback Theater: Storytelling in Action
DESCRIPTION:by Journey works \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a 3-hour skill-building Introduction to Playback Theatre devoted to enhancing our creativity and play as we form a community of storytellers in action. Using Playback Theatre as the core\, participants will learn how to use applied theatre to transform personal stories told by workshop participants into spontaneous theatre pieces using movement\, ritual\, music\, and spoken improvisation. Participants will share their stories and learn to bring these stories to life and discover the applications and settings for Playback Theatre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourtesy of Portland Playback Theatre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStories are how we understand our world\, who we are\, where we have come from\, and what we  may have come through. These moments of our lives can be touchstones\, full of power and significance. They are the glue that holds families\, communities\, and cultures together. In the last 3 years\, we have been tested by  the pandemic and political strife. This is a time of sharing and  coming together to play\, engage and share our stories.  \n\n\n\n\n\nUsing this form of theatre develops intuition\, insight\, creativity\, empathy\, and effective communication skills and is used in many  settings. This workshop is recommended for adults: no theatre  experience is needed. Please wear loose clothing.   \n\n\n\nMasks required. She teaches at Lesley University and internationally about the uses of Playback Theatre\, expressive arts\, theatre games\, and improvisation to support people in understanding their deeper stories\, resolving conflict\, and helping build community.

DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will be guided through the transformative process of painting & collage based work through the creations of Ann Marie Gillett. \n\n\n\nThis is a hands on workshop in person and students will learn the unique 2 dimensional techniques to create their own works on paper. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCo-Creative Sessions is a free and accessible online series geared to enrich\, educate and connect creatives through a series of workshops and training sessions. College. She continued her postgraduate studies in painting\, ceramics and printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design\, Bennington College and Massachusetts School of Art and Design. After doing freelance illustration and operating a one-woman textile business (Softworks) she became a visual arts teacher (30 years) and department head (8 years) at the Wheeler School in Providence\, RI for much of her professional life. \n\n\n\nWhile at Wheeler Ann Marie received the first Jason and Carly Siperstein Faculty Chair for teaching excellence. She also taught adult students in the Brown University MAT program for 10 years. She currently has returned to her studio practice full time and has won awards and exhibited her work in both group and solo shows in numerous galleries throughout New England. \n\n\n\nAnn Marie is an active member of several art groups including 19 on Paper\, Seekonk Artist Network\, and the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative.
